This book has already helped SO much and I'm only 3/4's through it! It's practical, upbeat and sprinkled with the authors true stories of helping her two daughters emerge healthier and better than ever from E.D. It's written as if i was talking to a family friend who just happened to have a boatload of knowledge about helping my child through an eating disorder. I have a new sense of hope, and i have this book to thank. It's just the pep talk i needed at my lowest ebb. Jackie

Paul Drexler is skilled at communicating his experiences at Theresienstndt Getto/Prison Camp and life for his Mother and him after being released. It is good reading to help one understand how Jews were treated and after the war how difficult it was for Paul and his Mother. I learned much from this book. The search for what happened to his father keeps the reader interested.

Because this one concerns masonry, the most general purpose of building materials, it seems to cover all aspects of building science--energy efficiency, moisture and sound control, fire safety (very briefly) etc. It also gives basic overall structural engineering guidelines, e.g. allowable dimensions for unsupported walls, and more, for the reader who is already conversant with stresses, shear forces, and so on, and who is interested in reading several pages on, say, how to interpret cracks in walls.
Apart from the historical overview which begins it, it is essentially a summary and explanation of the German building codes, and supplies voluminous data from them in the form of tables and graphs. And, of course, it ends with the detailed examples, with meticulous drawings, for which the publisher is famous.

About the Author
Regan discovered the joy of writing at the tender age of twelve. Her first two novels were teen fiction romance. She then got sidetracked into the world of computer programming and travelled extensively visiting twenty-seven countries. A few years ago after her son’s birth she stayed home and took another trip into the world of writing. After writing nine stories on a free writing website, winning an award and becoming a featured writer the next step was to publish her stories. Born in South Africa she now lives in London with her two children and husband, who is currently doing his masters. This is a tissue book for sure.

Haven had a good childhood until it was ripped away in a moment. The last seven years she has endured her existence in a shell of her former self. She is trying to just get by day to day and all the bad stuff she has to live with, hopefully will soon be a thing of the past once she hits eighteen.

Damien Knight has his own secrets, he recognizes something in Haven he has never seen in another person. Damien is the schools bad boy, the guy who sleeps with the girls with zero commitment and that will never change. Damien decides as much as Haven has rebuffed his interest, he is going to find out what is going on and when he does he finds himself even more protective of her. Can two people so lost find a future no one saw coming?

This is a tissue book for sure. I thought it was powerful and I was surprised that the Haven-Damien connection is not instant. Everything is gradual and builds with each turn of the page. Excellent read.

It Started off Great but Ended Flat.

This novel was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. It touched on such a deep topic that made it emotional.

What I like most about Haven's Knight was the writing. From the first sentence, it immediately took hold of my attention and captured me into a world of sadness and pain. I felt so much for Haven as a character.

However as much as it pains me to say this ... after a while to story fell completely flat. The shocking reality and rawness that was the beginning of the novel disappeared leaving something unrealistic and too hard to be believe. After a while even the characters became one dimensional. One thing that started to annoy me was Damien's POV; it was thrown into the story at odd and awkward times which made them pointless. And every time the POV switched you were thrown back moments and even days before the present event taking place in the story which became frustrating. Grants reasons for his hatred for Haven was poorly explained. At one point it was discovered that he blamed Haven for her mothers death but that wasn't a correct way to explain why he repeatedly beat her for seven years prior to the mothers death. I felt it was a story plot that lacked any real thought or development. Also the ending rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't understand how and/or why the author choose to have Grant shoot up the school, again another plot to the story with holes. It just didn't add up. Also the fact that Mark intentionally took another life like he was above the law rubbed me the wrong way. I'm all for justice and evil beings getting what they deserved but to allow these young characters to take a life and make the reader think it's okay, that it's acceptable didn't work for me. It could have been implied but it should have never been explained and made to look like it was justified. But that's just me ...

Overall, this was a good novel. The writing was great, Haven's character was well written and developed. The ended fell weak. I will most likely give the author another chance and read another novel from her.

Knight rises to the rescue

I loved the unconditional love and friendship that Damien and Chris had for Haven. I thought it was unique that Haven only had guy friends. I loved how Chris would make Haven a lunch everyday and talked to her even though she stayed quite and withdrawn. That is a true friend. He never gave up on her.

great WWII memoir

I first found out about this book through a WWII historical fiction list on GoodReads. Yet, after finishing, this book reads more as a moving memoir of survival and rescue than anything else. It’s not written nor formatted as a historical fiction to my eyes at all. So keep that in mind if you’re looking to dive into this one.

Now Olga’s journey across war-torn Eastern and Central Europe was engrossing. She experienced some horrifying events and conditions, all in the name of love for Julius or family. In places, she seems to have only survived due to luck or just by the skin of her teeth. Some of the places her journey took her to were just jaw-dropping, especially the camp of Dachau. It really brought it home some of the events she experienced, how topsy-turvy and chaotic Europe was at that timeframe.

Olga herself was resourceful in getting out of some of her experiences, and I found myself more and more drawn into her story as the book progressed. There were times where I question her thought processes or actions, but I’m not sure I’m really one to judge that since I wasn't there. Either way, reading about her struggle to find out the fate of the man she loved kept me spellbound. Even after finding him, life wasn't kittens and rainbows. The end of the memoir is just as astounding event-wise as the rest of Olga’s WWII experience.

If you’re looking for a unique and engaging WWII memoir, I’d recommend this one. It tells the story of an amazing and resourceful woman who wouldn't let a little thing like a world war get in the way of love. But if you’re looking for a historical fiction, try another selection as this isn't fictional. Still an amazing book all around.

My son is 6 and I felt that this book would put more anxious thoughts in his head that he hasn't thought of. I also found the bag of worries to be creepy looking. I gave this book away and didn't read it to my son.

was exactly what my daughter wanted/needed

my six year old daughter is very emotionally sensitive and anxious and tends to worry about hurting other people's feelings a lot and about many things that would never even occur to me to think about. i was kind of at my wits end about how to calm her down and deal with these worries, and when researching it came across this and one other book. She picked it up and was entranced -- really related to the girl in the book, and was very smiley and happy by the end of it. now she sometimes just goes to the bookshelf and gets it down herself to read to herself.

About the Author
Koray Yitmen is the board member of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) local chapter, the president of International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) local chapter, and the president of User Experience Professionals' Association (UXPA) local chapter. 

As a business partner, Koray has led many multi-national, cross-functional teams in the banking, telecommunications, insurance, media, and information technology (IT) industries for more than 15 years. Challenged by the diversity of his projects' cultural, domain, and people issues, Koray has succeeded by putting the needs of his projects' target users first. 

In 2000, he started his career as a technology consultant at Accenture. Easy to read

A very well-written and concise book for practitioners. Puts business analysis, testing and usability into perspective. Real-world experiences shape its content. It offers sound guidance for IT projects and highlights ways to prevent IT project failures. Easy to read. Yitmen's generosity of donating the earnings of this book to education is thoughtful. Definitely recommended.

I promise that you will enjoy this book, and will learn from it if you give it a chance. Yes, there are some big words, but they are beautiful, rich words, and they are worth learning. For what it's worth, a friend of mine said he dug reading it on Kindle, because he could simply tap on any word to get a definition.

"Why don't you have a post-graduate degree, Steve?", some ask. The reason is that I live in Hawaii, where there is quite a leftist bent in higher education. I learned this the hard way while earning my BA in English Literature at U.H. Manoa. When I would challenge the atheist/postmodernist assumptions of some of my professors, they couldn't provide an adequate response, but they dinged my grades. Friends who go to other universities here confirmed that it's the same at those institutions as well. So I made up my mind to do self-directed study, and I've gone way beyond where many PhD's have gone. My conversations with top-shelf thinkers like William Lane Craig have confirmed that I have self-educated my self soundly. No brag; just fact. It needs to be said, because some people perceive a void after my name where they expect a few letters to be.

The 10% who always dis Christian apologetics

This was a thorough book that covered the major topics for affirming the existence of God. Williams used both scientific evidence and philosophy to give the reader a more robust background for supporting the Christian faith. He explained some of the main cosmological arguments, moral arguments, and other topics such as fine-tuning of the universe. The chapter on fine-turning was a listing of 93 fine-tuned features in the universe and no explanation of those fine-tuned characteristics, such as the strong and weak nuclear force constants, gravitational force constant, electromagnetic for constant. As Williams said, "Feel free to skip ahead if you get the gist" of the list. I bought both the Kindle and the Audible whisper-sync versions. Unfortunately, I was listening to the book when this list came up and couldn't skip forward and drive safely. I have heard a couple dozen of these in other books, but some were new to me and I couldn't evaluate their importance in the intelligent design of the universe. It would have been good to expand on a few of them. I know it drives atheists nuts to talk about the number and types of supernova eruptions, especially when it comes to what happened to all the stage III supernovae remnants. If the universe were truly billions of years old, there should be thousands of detectable stage III supernovae remnants but there are none. It takes a over six thousand years for supernova remnants to reach this stage and they should detectably persist for about one million years.

One thing that is noticeable about the ratings of Christian, Intelligent Design, and creationist books is the constant 10% who utterly hate the book and usually attack the writer rather than deal with the arguments and evidence. That 10% correlates well with the polls that have found 10% of our population consists of atheists. If you look at a few books on other subjects, you would expect to see very few 1-star reviews for a good book on woodworking or some other subject that doesn't deal with Christian apologetics and more 3-4 star ratings. Instead, what I often see for Christian/creationist books is a high number of 5-star, a few 4-star, an occasional or rare 3 star, almost never 2-star, and 10% 1-star ratings. Well, at least the strident atheists are consistent in this respect. Usually, many of these detractors haven't actually read the book they criticize, but the ones who have seldom venture out of the 1-star rating for books opposed to their philosophical bent.

Convincing arguments for the existence of God

Convincing arguments about the reality of God. Shows why those who seek the truth such as noted prior atheists such as Sinclair, Flew, McCormack, Strobel, and many others reached the conclusion that God does exist. Arguments are indisputable. Downside is those that are convinced in their disbelief probably won't read the book since they don't want their lifestyle challenged.
